Spiritual Spring Cleaning with Gratitude

During the winter months, the skies are darker, it is colder outside and this tends to have a negative impact on people's mood. Overall, society has a collective "story" about winter that involves constriction, isolation, sadness, bitterness, more time indoors, etc. From an energetic perspective, what goes along with this "story" is a simultaneous constriction or blockage of higher source energy flow. This is caused by the negative thoughts associated with winter.  As a result, people tend to hold on to more negative energy or what we like to call "winter baggage."

In the spring, people tend to naturally expand as the sun comes out more, the flowers begin to blossom and the temperature begins to rise. In the spring, people tend to be more open to change as well. Because of this, spring is the perfect time to purge the "winter baggage" you have held onto - more than likely for many, many years. A great way to purge this baggage is through gratitude!

Note: Every year during spring, we encourage deepening or starting your spiritual routine. Regardless of where you are in your spiritual practice,  there is always room for growth. There is always room to raise your vibration so that you can release old stagnant emotions - even if you currently practice gratitude. Remember, learning happens in cycles, so implement this practice as best you can. If not, it will come back to you!

How Gratitude Works

Being grateful is basically Telling a Different Story about your situation. This new story that you are telling is from the perspective of appreciation, instead of lack. It is not looking at life through the lens of not having enough but through the open heart of what you already have.

From a vibrational standpoint, gratitude is one of the highest vibrations. Therefore, changing your thoughts/story to that of gratitude, naturally shifts you to a higher vibration - regardless of your current state. A higher vibration means improved health and it also means you are allowing at a higher vibration.

Remember, your thoughts are an indication of your alignment. If you have negative thoughts, you will feel bad - physically, emotionally and spiritually. For instance, body pains, soreness, decreased appetite, sadness, anger, fear, loneliness, etc. These thoughts are mostly subconscious in nature but your feelings give you an indication of what is going on inside. If you want to start or continue to raise your vibration to health, then practicing gratitude daily is a key component.

Gratitude Challenge

I love challenges because they get me excited about the activity. Here are some challenges you could do for your Spiritual Spring Cleaning!

  • Alternatively, you can set a daily reminder to write down at least 5 things that you were grateful for during the day. Set the reminder for you to do this at night before bed.
