How do I find time to meditate?

How do I find time to Meditate

If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse. Jim Rohn

This may be cliche, however, if you really want to do it, you will do it. Life is about choices. Now having said this, let me give you a hand with making the choice to meditate. When making decisions, you have to consider the pros and cons of it. Well, meditation has many pros. Meditation relieves stress and anxiety, helps to clear your mind, makes you more productive and improves your physical and mental/emotional health. These are just some of the benefits of meditation for you. In addition, meditation is very beneficial for your relationships. When you practice meditation on a regular basis, you are better able to deal with family and/or work situations. Things you used to worry about are no longer a concern for you. You are more relaxed and you can react to a situation from that standpoint. This improves these relationships. When you meditate, your life will also begin to take on a more "calm tone to it”. This is due to many factors such as being more calm and focused. Based on just these aspects that I have listed, meditation is very beneficial for you. Now having said this, you must now make a choice as to what is most important to you. If you have a busy schedule, take a look at it and determine your top priorities. Some things that may seem like a priority, when looked at in relation to other things such as the benefits of a regular meditation practice, may not seem as important. One way to help you in prioritizing is to use a prioritizing grid. This can help you to put a perspective on what is most important to your life.

Now, if having done all of that, meditation is at the top of the list, again, you must now make the choice to do it and let the least important things fade away.

It is also important to realize that meditation can be more than just a standard sitting down practice. While you may be able to get deeper into a meditative state doing a formal sitting meditation, there are other forms of meditation. For instance, you can practice being mindful while eating. This is an excellent way to bring meditation into your routine because we all have to eat. You can do also practice mindful or qigong walking. These are easy ways to incorporate meditation into your routine.

If you need help with figuring out how to let go of the least important things in your life, then consider a lifestyle coach. As part of the Meditation for Health Program, we teach lifestyle skills, in addition to learning how to meditate because we understand that being healthy is a lifestyle choice.
