How does one achieve the mindset for meditation?

Mindset can be defined as a set of beliefs or a way of thinking that determine a person's behavior and outlook.  I would say in a lot of cases, people already have the mindset to meditate. As meditation is becoming more popular in this country, many people are beginning to come to the belief that meditation is very beneficial for things such as relieving stress and anxiety, improving your mental function, improving your concentration, etc. They are familiar with studies that are helping them to make the transition   a sincere desire to experience the benefits of meditation is enough to achieve the mindset for meditation. Meditation has so many benefits, such as quieting the mind, relieving stress and anxiety, increasing focus and concentration and improving physical health, that knowing this is usually enough to motivate one to meditate.  In some cases, though, the gap between having the knowledge of the benefits and having the motivation to do it needs to be closed. In this case, I would recommend creating a vision board and gradually ease your way into the desire to meditate.

On your vision board, place a picture of a person meditating or take a picture of yourself in a meditation position. Then place the vision board in a place that you see everyday. It is as simple as that. Make a point to look at this picture everyday and allow the motivation to meditate to come to you. Just the simple act of focusing on it will increase your desire. Just give it a try and you will see!
