When a Wave Comes Go Deep

Throughout your spiritual journey with meditation, there will be many times when waves of emotions as well as physical sensations come to the surface. It is during these times that it is especially important to continue your regimen with meditation. The expression "When a wave comes go deep” is a great reminder of this.

As we have discussed in the past, sometimes that wave can feel like a tsunami. This is known as a healing crisis. When this occurs it is first nice to know that this can happen and is common. Second it is good to be aware and to know that there are steps you can do to alleviate your response to this “tsunami” when or if it comes. Click here to read more about how to handle a tsunami caused by meditating.

Regardless of whether you experience a “tsunami” or slight waves, it is especially important to have a routine in place to handle it. There will be waves of emotions that are going to be released when you start meditating. This is true also of physical sensations. When you start to meditate and raise your vibration, some areas of your body that were of lower vibration (lacked high vibrational flow) are not going to be able to handle the high vibration. As a result, you start to feel sensations. For instance, these physical sensations can manifest as what we consider as pain. From an energetic perspective, what is happening is that there is a resistance from you to this natural flow of energy through your body. It takes learning how to relax into this high vibrational energy flowing through your body. As you learn to relax this area, you open up and allow even more energy to flow. When this happens, you feel a release and the area feels more healthy.

Holistic Lifestyle Tips 5

As you meditate more and more, it gets easier to recognize these waves of emotions and physical sensations.

Another thing in the process of “riding the waves", is learning to let go of your thoughts around sensations (physical and emotional). This helps to allow the waves to move quickly through your body.

Example: There is a sensation in your body you normally associate with hunger.

Normal reaction: You immediately go and eat.

Alternate practice: Take a minute and passively notice the sensation. You may be surprised that the energy is not that of hunger but is that of an emotion. If it is that of an emotion, turn on some meditative music and start doing one of the poses in the meditation to move the energy*.
