Meditation affirmation or mantra

A meditation affirmation is a great way to relieve anxiety and stress. It focuses your attention in the present moment and releases your mind from a borage of stressful and/or anxious thoughts. When you do this, you calm your mind and can relax.

For today's meditation, we will do a quick 5-minute breath meditation with affirmation. The affirmation for today is I RELEASE and - I ALLOW JOY". Start the cycle with a silent inhalation. Then upon exhalation, say the words "I RELEASE and". Say the words silently to yourself. When you take your next inhalation, say the words "I ALLOW JOY" silently to yourself. Repeat the cycle. Exhale - "I RELEASE and"; Inhale - "I ALLOW JOY".  It is just as simple as that. You can use this meditation as your regular meditation practice and/or anytime you find yourself in need of uplifting your spirits. 

Feel free to use other affirmations that resonate with you. I do advise that when you make your affirmations, focus on what you want only. For instance, "I release anxiety - I allow confidence." While the confidence is focused on what you want, the word anxiety is focused on what you do not, ie what you are trying to "fix". A better affirmation, would be "I release and - I allow confidence." I know this may seem incomplete, but it actually feels better. Words are very powerful in their ability to uplift your mood. Some words just feel better than others. Words such as joy, beauty and love, feel better then words such as hate, disease, and ugly. You want to train your mind to feel good by focusing on the word confidence. You want the word anxiety to drop from your awareness.
