Learning to Forgive | Steps to improve your Emotional Health
Are you too hard on yourself when you examine how you have handled a situation? Do you make a habit of forgiving yourself or do you continually go over and over in your head the mistakes you feel you made? When is the last time you forgave yourself?
Well it is time to learn and take some steps to forgiving yourself. Forgiving yourself is essential to healing because when you forgive yourself, you open yourself to healing. Lack of forgiveness, results in a contracted emotional state. Learn to let go of this resistance and heal emotionally. Below are some simple and very effective steps to take.
Steps to Take
- Tell yourself "I forgive me". It is the first step to healing.
- Understand that your thoughts affect your emotional health. Thoughts that make you feel good cause you to be in a good emotional state. The opposite is true for non-good feeling thoughts. As a result, learn to be mindful of your thoughts. This is when the practice of mindfulness is very, very useful. It takes time to learn but once learned and practiced, you will see dramatic results in the improvement of your mood.
- Understand that how you FEEL is a guidance system to your current state of emotional health. Feeling good = being healthy emotionally. The opposite is true for non-good feeling states. If you are putting yourself into a "non-good" feeling state because of your thoughts about a situation, then take the steps to raise your vibration.
- If you desire, when you feel good, reexamine the situation in a mindful way (nonjudgmental). You are only reexamining the situation to decide how you would handle it differently. Once you decide, let it go and continue to monitor how you feel. When you take these simple steps, you define to the universe who you are and who you are choosing to be.
