Is your doubt holding you back spiritually? Do you consistently utter words such as, “I don’t know if I believe that” or “that’s not true.”
When it comes to the unknown, especially considering how many divergent ideas there are in this world, “I don’t know if I believe that” is a valid position to hold. This stance can keep you from getting “lost” down a rabbit hole of ideas and concepts.
Unfortunately, on the spiritual journey, this idea could hold you back.
There is so much about the world that we have been taught that is not true. This is due to the fact that the world has been viewed mostly through the eyes of the ego.
As a result, when you are presented with an idea that seems far or even slightly out of what you “know” or what you have been taught to be true, it is common for people to dismiss it.
I cannot count the times that I was presented with a concept before I began my spiritual journey. It took years before I was willing to open to it. I just was not ready to accept this new way of thinking.
This is why I am sharing with you a way in which you can open to what you need for your spiritual growth. Of course, if you know our teachings, you will know it involves communicating with the divine for guidance.
Open to Divine Guidance
There are many ways in which you could get divine guidance. One way is to tell a different story about it.
Since this is a creative world, you can use your new story/affirmations to transform your life at your will.
Here are some new story options:
- Ask the divine to guide you to topics that you need for your spiritual growth.
- Affirm that your mind is open to possibilities. This will start opening your mind to see the world differently.
- Affirm that the divine gives you a clear sign when you need to be open to a topic.
Another option is to cultivate the habit of asking the divine immediately after being presented a topic. In this way, you know immediately or at least in time if this is a topic you should engage in at the moment.
Example
I recently worked with a client who was feeling frustrated that her prayers were not being answered by the divine. She felt stuck and did not know what to do. During the session, IAM presented her with an idea and she immediately fell back into the mindset that she did not believe in that.
When you ask for divine help and are presented with topics that don’t fit into how you think it should be solved, then it will feel like the divine is not listening to you, when in fact you are not listening to the divine.
Our advice in this and similar situations is to cultivate the habit of not totally dismissing an idea but asking the divine to bring that topic back to you if it is something that you need to explore. Ask the divine for a clear sign if you need to return to the topic so that it is easier for you to drop your resistance to it.
As you are exploring the topic, continue to ask for divine guidance in whatever you need. For instance, if you are having a hard time believing what you are being presented with, ask the divine to explain it to you in a way that makes sense or to help you to surrender to it.
Be sure to journal your questions and answers. This will help you make sense of what the divine is trying to help you to open to.
Become a Spiritual Scientist
Practice having an open mind, just like a true scientist. A true scientist would not outright reject a concept. A true scientist would be open to a new way of approaching a concept and would gather data in order to draw a conclusion. We would not have made major shifts in our understanding of science if there were not those scientists who were truly willing to be open.
Become a “spiritual scientist” in the sense of being less reactive in your dismissal of a topic. Get into the habit of asking the divine for data or the ability to open your mind to the concept if necessary.
I get presented with ideas from my friends all the time and I have learned to ask IAM to give me guidance on whether I need to explore this topic further. In this way, I am not being controlled by the ego and totally negating it. I am letting myself be guided by the divine. Now I am learning to apply this in the business world. It is a work in progress but a work that I enjoy!
