Build Habits with Meditation

It has been a month since the turn of the new year.  Are you well on your way into building new habits for this new year or are you "stuck" in the same patterns? Well, if you want to change a habit, you have to build new brain neural connections.  Now how do you do this? Hmmmmm…let me give you a hint...focus. Watch this short movie excerpt from the film "What the Bleep" for a wonderful insight on building new neural connections in the brain.

What neural connections do you wish to establish in your life?  Do you wish to have strong neural networks for peace, love, joy and abundance?  If your answer is yes, then begin by training yourself to build habits in those areas.

There are various ways to do this and meditation is one of them.  Coincidentally, meditation can be defined as focus.  It is focus to the point that all other sensations diminish from your reality.  Meditation paradoxically trains you to focus.   It is a fallacy to think that you cannot meditate because you cannot focus. Meditation teaches you to focus. It is all a training of the mind. The more you train your mind, the easier it gets.

Meditation is defined as focus and it trains you to focus. Hmmmm…what a wonderful tool :-) Learn how to meditate in the Meditation for Health ProgramTM.

Another way to ease into a habit is to train yourself to react to a situation in a different way.  When you do this you place your focus on a different way of being and change your vibration in relation to the event.  You literally raise your vibration out of the situation/habit and form a new habit at a new vibration.

Instructions:
Do this by writing down how you wish to react to a certain situation.  Let me give you an example.  Let's say for instance, that you repeatedly react to a situation in this way, however, you want to react to the situation in this way.  Write down your preferred reaction and place it in a place that you see everyday.

If I feel this way

I will focus on this to raise my vibration

Angry at work   Right arrowMake a list of things for which I am grateful in my life
Frustrated with my children   Right arrowGo for a walk outside
Hungry/Desire a snack   Right arrowSet the timer for 5 minutes before going to eat. Then breath, observe and feel the sensation to ensure I am hungry.(Be mindful)

As you can see from the examples above, you are putting your focus on things that make you FEEL BETTER.  Your focus is on FEELING GOOD. This is how you raise your vibration and heal. How you FEEL affects your emotional, spiritual AND physical health.

When you have decided upon how you will change a habit, place it in a location that you see everyday, such as your mirror in the bathroom.  Look at this everyday as a reminder and it will become easier for you to remember to focus on raising your vibration in those situations.

The above mentioned method can be done in addition to meditation or by itself.  It is one of the steps taught in the Meditation for Health Program.
