“You cannot travel within and stand still without.” What do these words mean to you? When you "travel" within with methods such as meditation, you become aligned with source. You release old thought patterns that do not serve you. That shift in your inner being automatically creates a shift in your outer reality. That is because your outer reality is a reflection of your inner beliefs. A basic law of attraction concept.
This statement also signifies the important role your subconscious mind plays in creating your reality. Most of what is created in your reality is a result of your ingrained collective beliefs as well as your subconscious beliefs.
The Mind (Conscious and Subconscious)
When someone states that something has happened to them but they know they were not thinking about it, we can draw the conclusion that there is a basic misunderstanding of the law of attraction and a basic misunderstanding of the mind.
In basic terms, you have the conscious and subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is working all the time. You can think of it as the autopilot. The "background noise" that is going on behind the scenes. You can also think of it as your foundational belief system. If you want to invoke more sustainable changes in your reality, then you have to change your subconscious thoughts about it.
Note
There is also the collective mind of humans with beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation. For simplicity's sake, we will stick to the conscious and the subconscious mind. We will address the collective mind at a later time.
How do you know what is in your subconscious? There are several ways to determine/get an idea of what is happening in your subconscious mind. The easiest way is to notice what you see around you or what you have manifested. What is the predominant “energy” of the world around you? For instance, in relationships, what type of people do you tend to attract into your life? Do you tend to attract friends who are trustworthy and honest or the opposite? Do you tend to manifest positive situations in your life? Do you tend to attract situations where you feel like a victim? Whatever the predominate subconscious thought system is will reflect in what you see around you.
Another way to get a glimpse at the subconscious mind is to listen to the residual noise that goes on in your head. For instance, if you constantly have thoughts of lack of confidence, you will "hear" thoughts of that going on in your head all the time. The caveat to this is that sometimes beliefs are so a part of who you have created yourself to be thus far that it manifests itself so quickly and consistently that you don't even realize you are doing it. As a result, you would have to “awaken” in order to “hear it”.
An example of this could be quickly made decisions. Decisions that are made so quickly that you are not even consciously aware of the underlying vibration of the decision. For instance, let’s say you consistently make decisions from a lack of confidence vibration. These decisions occur so often and so quickly, you may not even realize this is your foundational belief system. The decisions you make are just so common and ordinary for you that you may not realize that they come from a place of fear. Because they occur so fast, you would have to relook at your decisions after they are made. For instance, taking the time to re-evaluate the majority of decisions you have made over a week’s time.
Meditation to hear the “noise"
A good way to "hear" the noise is to start the practice of meditation. In basic terms meditation is focus. Focus to the point that all thoughts diminish from your perception. Now I know you are asking if all thoughts diminish from your reality, how can you hear the noise. You hear it as a beginner practicioner of it. In fact that is one of the most common issues with beginner meditators. They think they cannot meditate because they hear so much noise. The process of hearing an abundance of noise before it quiets is a normal process of meditating.
Meditation serves two purposes
- Meditation allows you to hear the noise. By directing your focus inwardly, you begin to notice the “chaos” that has been going on in your mind. Don’t worry, this is okay. It has been going on this entire time but it is nothing to fear.
- Meditation allows the noise to dissipate over time, thereby shifting your subconscious thoughts to a higher vibration. In other words as you meditate regularly, you start to let go of or release the self-limiting subconscious thoughts. This is due to the fact that as you meditate, you become more in alignment with your true essence. You release the self-taught limiting beliefs and come back in to alignment with your true self which is that of infinite possibilities. Another way to look at this is to say that meditation rewires your brain. It takes your focus away from the areas that do not serve you to the areas that do serve you.
In conclusion, when you travel within, your world without (externally) will change and reflect a more positive and uplifted internal vibration.
